Tenuta Castello di Morcote is a 150-hectare organic farm and winery located on the Arbostora promontory and surrounded by Lake Ceresio. The family-run business was founded in 1939 by Massimo Gianini and is now managed by the third generation. The vineyard covers 8 hectares at Castello di Morcote and 4 hectares in suitable areas of the Mendrisiotto region (Ligornetto and Morbio). The Morcote vineyards are located on steep terraced slopes and are managed by hand according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, in order to enhance this exceptional terroir of pink porphyry soil - a volcanic quartzite, and to respect the balance of the plant and biodiversity in the vineyard. In the cellar, the grapes are handled with as little intervention as possible in order to obtain wines that reflect the specific characteristics of the places where they are grown. The wines are recognised for their expressiveness, finesse and elegance.
